Steve Poltz (USA) w/ Freya Josephine Hollick

He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada) but has lived most of his life in Southern California and those geographic poles are quite likely responsible for his unhinged genius. He is a dual citizen – Canada/USA – but has often said that, “should a hostage situation arise, I become conveniently Canadian.”

Over the course of his life he’s met Elvis Presley (who hugged his sister for far too long), trick or treated at Liberace’s house (each finger had a diamond ring), was Bob Hope’s favourite altar boy (according to him), bravely traveled the world busking before he knew how to do it, pissed off David Cassidy and can count some of the world’s coolest people as fans.

As good as his albums are, STEVE POLTZ positively owns a crowd when he’s on stage. His shows are the stuff of legend. He can take an unsuspecting audience from laughter to tears and back again in the space of a single song. He is a master of improvisational songwriting and works without a set list to be free to react instantly to the mood of a room.

Ramblin' Nights Feat: Freya Josephine Hollick at The Leadbelly

February brings the honk to your tonk with an all-star lineup who will get you dancing in your favorite worn in cowboy boots.

Freya Josephine Hollick, the old-timey country songbird brings blues and honky tonk goodness that transports you back to early Appalachia, through wartime romance, the golden era of country music and into a cosmic hootenanny. With a voice that floats between Maybelle Carter, Dolly Parton and Skip James, Hollick has toured with the likes of Justin Townes Earle, Willie Watson, Joshua Hedley and Joe Pug and appearing as a guest singer with Robert Ellis and The Perfect Strangers plus festival appearances at Nannup Music Festival, Boogie Festival, Broadbeach Country Music Festival & Gympie Music Muster, Queenscliff Music Festival, Kyneton Music Festival, Out on the Weekend & Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival. Freya will have her band accompanying her on this visit to add a bigger sound to her irresistible voice.

The Sweet Jelly Rolls are no strangers to Ramblin’ Nights with their catchy tunes & old time favorites. They seamlessly blend country & blues with an amped up sound to create one heck of a live show. Their energy is infectious, with banjo, guitar, kick drum driven rhythms & thunderous harmonica solos till the cows come home.

Shelley’s Murder Boys from Sydney are a simple devil-lovin’ family playing bluegrass/folk tunes about the hills and rivers they’ve roamed, the things they’ve seen and stories they have been told. With a haunting fiddle, rollicking guitar and a twanging banjo, Shelley and the boys will take you on a journey to their porch in the backwoods.
