Ayleen O'Hanlon

Since the independent release of her debut album in 2015, Australian singer-songwriter, Ayleen O has been steadily building a name within Australia as a captivating live performer with a distinctive voice that ropes you in and pulls you under.

Outside Australia, you may well know Ayleen as the girl with the cat on her guitar on Youtube - a viral video with 1.7 million views which has earned her an international presence, with fans from Beijing to Texas to Rio De Janeiro.

Carried by skilled picking on the guitar and banjo, and with a sound inspired from folk, country and blues traditions, Ayleen's honest songwriting details small town stories, downtrodden hearts, and dusty characters.

Ayleen O emerged with the album Blend and Spill displaying a confidence and candour rarely seen on an alt-folk country debut. She then took Port Fairy Folk Festival by storm in 2016 with a full band, and backed it up with appearances at several folk festivals around the country.

At the same time, she is an innovative event producer and invested in creating a sense of community through her work. In 2015-16 she curated, directed and performed in a major songwriting and history performance series, titled Goin' Back for two Melbourne music festivals (Darebin Music Feast and Brunswick Music Festival).

More recently, Ayleen joined Mick Thomas (Weddings Parties Anything) & The Roving Commission as chief banjo-wielder, guitarist and backing singer, going on to impress audiences all around Australia with the power and emotion of her performance both as a solo artist - often opening the show for Mick - and as an accompanist in the band.

Ayleen O is in the writing and recording phase for her second album, and preparing to release the next album with Mick Thomas's Roving Commission.

Blend and Spill is the debut album by Ayleen O'Hanlon, released July, 2015.
